The three batiks that I made all had the lines that are on the pictures on this page, but I was unable to actually capture pictures of the batiks themselves. So, one of them was a depiction of a cactus, and another looked like a tree. The last one was this sort of mountain sunshine landscape.
The meaning behind the landscape and the cactus is very similar. They both remind me of the desert, which is where I grew up. So, they both give me a feeling of home and comfort, and along with that, joy. The meaning behind the tree is less personal, simply that plants tend to remind me and make me think of peace, which is something that is good for any community. When I was making these drawings and trying to figure out what to make, I was thinking about what things brought me joy and happiness and how I could represent them. I like the cactus and mountain landscape quite a bit. I thought that they looked really nice when the color was added, and I just have that personal connection with them that makes me happy. I'm more neutral on the tree, mostly because it doesn't mean as much to me personally, and the drawing really isn't that good. So, I'd say I was mostly successful; two for three isn't bad, and I don't hate the other. |
